The Sustainable Cyclist…
So through blog searching and general dorking out, I found a really cool blog with a good message. The Sustainable Cyclist headed by the lovely Tim is a blog about cycling and the encouragement and advocacy of creating a sustainable cycling world. Please do check out his blog. He is also set to open up a shop in Monterey, CA within the next year!
Trinity’s West Coast Madness
So, while Virginia was on the east, I of course was on the west. My first sales destination was Portland, OR which surprisingly has very few shops (i should say pedaler specific shops?) considering all the street cyclists. Clever Cycles seemed like a really great fit for pedaler as they have an entire room dedicated to more “regular” cycling clothing. The owner greg was really helpful and friendly. I didn’t get a change to go and see Jason from Bike Gallery but I have been emailing him, so hopefully he likes our stuff
From Portland, I went to Seattle where after much searching I did end up finding a great little shop in the downtown area of Seattle (on the fourth floor of a building with an entrance in the alley) that would be a great fit for Pedaler. Unfortunately, Nikki of Mobius Cycle wasn’t there so I left her our catalog.
From Portland I went to Ashland where I got a great response from the manager at Cycle Sport and Tim at Ashland Bicycle Works.
From Ashland, I went to San Francisco where Pedaler was extremely embraced. Ian and Sarah of Pushbike (an innovative cycling apparel shop in the Mission) were super duper into Pedaler. Andrew of Box Dog Bike was also extremely delightful. He owns a really great shop filled with awesome people.
So after two weeks and 2000+ miles I made it back to SoCal. In the next few weeks, I will be hitting up Los Angeles, San Diego, Long Beach and in between. Please contact us if you are interested.
Diary of a sales girl
Our east coast sales trip was a great success! Because it was my first time out and I do tattoos for a living (not sales), I was extremely nervous. Lucky for me, everyone I met with was very supportive and open to my “pitch”.
After Atlanta, I went to Asheville NC and met with Clark of Hearns Cycling & Fitness. This shop has been around since 1896 (not a typo, for real 1896) and have recently moved into a great new location down the street.

Richmond was the next stop on my list. I had never been there before and had a great time. I tattoo with Timothy Hoyer and since he worked in Richmond forever and is extremely talented and an all around nice guy, they practically gave me the key to the city! Name dropping Chris O’Donnell (another amazing tattooer) helped too.
Braden of Carytown Bicycle Company in Richmond was really helpful and gave me some great advice and feedback. Braden and my friend and ‘sales coach’ Brad Otts (of Toms Shoes) pointed me in the direction of a great boutique called Need Supply. Unfortunately the owner Chris wasn’t in, but I got to meet two of the best front desk people ever! Thanks to David and Alyssa for trying on the clothes and for being so sweet.
Travis from CycleLife USA in Washington DC was generous enough to fit me in on such short notice. I felt intimidated walking into such a nice shop, but him and his sales associates put me at ease. I decided to stay the night in Georgetown and take in the sights… Tip: never try booking a hotel from your iphone while drunk off 2 glasses of wine (yes I’m a light weight). The hotel was fine, but was located right on campus, and just so happened to be hosting the ‘Meet the Future Leaders of Tomorrow Conference’. I was wondering why all these business people were so short… it’s because they were all 16!
Baltimore and Philly brought torrential rain, but great success! And I got to test out our bag… yes it is water proof! I first went to Light Street Cycles new location and met with Penny and Marshall. Penny especially loved that all of Pedalers Clothing is made in the USA. I hope to meet her and Marshall again at interbike in September!
With the rain still coming down I made my way to Philadelphia to see Bryan and Heather (and their adorable dog Buda) at Bicycle Revolutions. They have two great locations right across from one another and offer lots of great bikes, apparel and service. While they looked at the clothing, I tried to coax Buda into sitting on my lap!
I’m back in Brooklyn now and will begin my sales here soon. I already went to meet with Peter and Jessica of Ride Brooklyn in my lovely neighborhood of Park Slope. Their shop is just what we need here! They are lucky to have Grant working there, and the three of them gave me soooo many ideas to make Pedaler even better!
Is your shop not on our list? Email us if you are interested! And stay tuned to hear about Trinity’s west coast sales trip!
Hotlanta….
Maybe you can only call it “Hotlanta” if you’re from there…. lest you sound like an ass? I had never been there before so I’m claiming ignorance. I got to check out the aquarium and wander around the city a bit… awesome! I went to see No Brakes Bikes new location on Woodward ave. They were so nice with their feedback and have a great shop!
I also got to meet with Pete of Outback Bikes. They have two locations, one in Little 5 Points and one in Hamilton Mill. He was so sweet to meet with me last minute and we had a great time talking about everything under the sun! A big thanks to Patrick, one of the ace mechanics at Outback, for modeling the clothing for us…. maybe you’ve found your calling? Handsome Boy Modeling School!

Atlanta loves bikes, and I love Atlanta!
Catalog is posted in the Apparel Section…
Bamboo is the new black
It’s been a year in development and design and we finally have a product that we can truly stand behind. I only wish our samples were small enough to fit me… I want to wear it now! Since we are a unisex line, we made our samples in a mens medium/ womens large so that more people could test it out for us.
Trinity is out on the west coast for her sales trip and I just completed the first portion of mine in New England. In Boston I had the pleasure of meeting with Zack (turns out I used to tattoo him when I lived there… small world!) and Jason from Cambridge Bicycle. They have a new location opening up soon in Boston called Superb… destined for excellence! I also went over to Wheel Works in Belmont…. great selection and friendly staff. Thanks Boston for all the great feedback!
One thing we’re really trying to convey is our efforts to make a sustainable US made line of clothing. All of our tops are made from bamboo, which is 200% more wicking than cotton and grows like a weed! Bamboo feels like cashmere to the touch and is anti-microbial, which means anti-stink…. very important for all of us daily commuters.
Here we are picking up our rolls of bamboo from our dealer in Southern CA

All of our stuff is made here in the US and we want to keep it that way.
Next stop for me is Atlanta Georgia!
Bike lanes part 2. I once was lost but now am found
I now see the error of my ways in regards to the cycling lanes. I plan on using them the correct way from now on… meaning not riding in the wrong direction like I occasionally did before. I need to set a good example for all of the hot young models riding the wrong way while talking on their cell phones, not follow their lead. I’m not a model and some would argue that I’m not that young anymore (is 29 old?), so why try to be something I’m not? I vow from this day forward to obey the rules, obvious or assumed of cycling etiquette.
