Our east coast sales trip was a great success! Because it was my first time out and I do tattoos for a living (not sales), I was extremely nervous. Lucky for me, everyone I met with was very supportive and open to my “pitch”.

After Atlanta, I went to Asheville NC and met with Clark of  Hearns Cycling & Fitness.  This shop has been around since 1896 (not a typo, for real 1896) and have recently moved into a great new location down the street.

Richmond was the next stop on my list. I had never been there before and had a great time. I tattoo with Timothy Hoyer and since he worked in Richmond forever and is extremely talented and an all around nice guy, they practically gave me the key to the city! Name dropping Chris O’Donnell (another amazing tattooer) helped too.

Braden of Carytown Bicycle Company in Richmond was really helpful and gave me some great advice and feedback. Braden and my friend and ‘sales coach’ Brad Otts (of Toms Shoes) pointed me in the direction of a great boutique called Need Supply. Unfortunately the owner Chris wasn’t in, but I got to meet two of the best front desk people ever! Thanks to David and Alyssa for trying on the clothes and for being so sweet.

Travis from CycleLife USA in Washington DC was generous enough to fit me in on such short notice. I felt intimidated walking into such a nice shop, but him and his sales associates put me at ease. I decided to stay the night in Georgetown and take in the sights… Tip: never try booking a hotel from your iphone while drunk off 2 glasses of wine (yes I’m a light weight). The hotel was fine, but was located right on campus, and just so happened to be hosting the ‘Meet the Future Leaders of Tomorrow Conference’. I was wondering why all these business people were so short… it’s because they were all 16!

Baltimore and Philly brought torrential rain, but great success! And I got to test out our bag… yes it is water proof! I first went to Light Street Cycles new location and met with Penny and Marshall.  Penny especially loved that all of Pedalers Clothing is made in the USA. I hope to meet her  and Marshall again at interbike in September!

With the rain still coming down I made my way to Philadelphia to see Bryan and Heather (and their adorable dog Buda) at Bicycle Revolutions. They have two great locations right across from one another and offer lots of great bikes, apparel and service. While they looked at the clothing, I tried to coax Buda into sitting on my lap!

I’m back in Brooklyn now and will begin my sales here soon. I already went to meet with Peter and Jessica of Ride Brooklyn in my lovely neighborhood of Park Slope. Their shop is just what we need here! They are lucky to have Grant working there, and the three of them gave me soooo many ideas to make Pedaler even better!

Maybe you can only call it “Hotlanta” if you’re from there…. lest you sound like an ass? I had never been there before so I’m claiming ignorance. I got to check out the aquarium and wander around the city a bit… awesome! I went to see  No Brakes Bikes new location on Woodward ave. They were so nice with their feedback and have a great shop!

I also got to meet with Pete of Outback Bikes. They have two locations, one in Little 5 Points and one in Hamilton Mill. He was so sweet to meet with me last minute and we had a great time talking about everything under the sun! A big thanks to Patrick, one of the ace mechanics at Outback, for modeling the clothing for us…. maybe you’ve found your calling? Handsome Boy Modeling School!

Atlanta loves bikes, and I love Atlanta!

It’s been a year in development and design and we finally have a product that we can truly stand behind. I only wish our samples were small enough to fit me… I want to wear it now! Since we are a unisex line, we made our samples in a mens medium/ womens large so that more people could test it out for us.

Trinity is out on the west coast for her sales trip and I just completed the first portion of mine in New England. In Boston I had the pleasure of meeting with Zack (turns out I used to tattoo him when I lived there… small world!) and Jason from Cambridge Bicycle. They have a new location opening up soon in Boston called Superb… destined for excellence! I also went over to Wheel Works in Belmont…. great selection and friendly staff. Thanks Boston for all the great feedback!

One thing we’re really trying to convey is our efforts to make a sustainable US made line of clothing. All of our tops are made from bamboo, which is 200% more wicking than cotton and grows like a weed!  Bamboo feels like cashmere to the touch and is anti-microbial, which means anti-stink…. very important for all of us daily commuters.

All of our stuff is made here in the US and we want to keep it that way.

Next stop for me is Atlanta Georgia!

Our Hoodies and T’s are in and off to the dye house. What you see here, are our “blanks”. We expect to have these done (and the rest of the line) by mid next week! Whoo hoo! Vague artsy pics of the line are to follow

Well what can I say about this process? It’s like giving birth to a fully grown man child! (maybe not quite as painful)   We’ve come so far in such a short amount of time… just last summer we were drinking wine and fantasizing about cycling clothing we’d actually want to wear. And now, just six months later we’re about to have our first samples in hand!

Next step… sales trips! Although I can’t wait to road trip, the idea of trying to sell something to strangers is daunting. But there is no way around it, just gotta get in the car and drive!

Hello, hello and welcome… In an effort to utilize a blog inspired website, we’ve decided that this is the best way to keep everyone abreast of what the F is going on. Okay, okay… so lets see, it has been about a full year of clothing and business development and we will soon have something to show for it. We expect to have our samples in April and our initial sales launch at the end of May! We plan to peddle Pedaler Clothing on the west and east coasts.
